Jerome Boateng is unlikely to join Manchester City Football Club this month.

The German international is one of many defenders being linked with the Blues, as Roberto Mancini looks to strengthen the heart of his back four.

Boateng is valued at £20million by Hamburg, but City were hoping to pay £12million this month as the terms of his contract indicate he can leave for £10.6million in the summer.

However, reports claim the 21-year-old will see out the campaign with the Bundesliga club, who will be working on offering him a new contract in the meantime.

Boateng is expected to be named in Germany’s World Cup squad this summer, when his performances could result in more competition for the Eastlands outfit.
