Barca hope to fend off Premier League interest for Chamakh
05:00 PM 15 January, 2010
Barcelona are set to enter the scramble to sign Marouane Chamakh.

The Moroccan international is in the final six months of his contract at Bordeaux, and he is certain to leave the French club at the end of the season.

Arsenal and West Ham United wanted to take him in the summer but couldn’t agree a deal with the Ligue 1 champions, whilst his performances in Europe this term have attracted more interest.

Liverpool have been heavily linked over the past week, but reports in Spain suggest Barca are willing to take on all Premier League challengers for his signature.

Radio Cadena SER claim the reigning UEFA Champions League holders have made Chamakh a serious target for the summer, and the will feel quietly confident of taking him to the Camp Nou.
