Portsmouth explain James loan collapse
11:04 AM 16 January, 2010
Peter Storrie has explained why David James won’t be joining Stoke City Football Club.

The Potters looked to be on the verge of landing the England goalkeeper on loan for the rest of the season, but their refusal to pay 100 percent of his Portsmouth wages led to the collapse of the deal.

“As far as I am concerned, if a fellow Premier League side want to take a Premier League player, then pay his wages,” Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie told Sky Sports.

“Why bother even ringing if they are not going to pay his wages? They wanted to pay part of his wages, an appearance fee and some more money if they stay in the Premier League.”
