Wenger set to renew interest in Gomis
06:00 PM 18 January, 2010
Arsene Wenger could turn to Bafetimbi Gomis for his Arsenal Football Club squad.

A 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers means the Gunners are in striking distance of top spot in the Premier League, something they could reach on Wednesday night.

Some believe this is their best chance of winning the league since they last achieved it in 2004, but Wenger’s chances would be further increased if a new striker could be signed.

Robin van Persie is out of the rest of the season with an ankle injury, and reports in the Sunday Mirror claim Lyon’s Gomis could replace him this month.

The France international, 23, only joined his current club from St Etienne in the summer for £10million, which is the same price the Londoners are said to be willing to pay.

Wenger is a big fan of Gomis and has reportedly been monitoring his progress for some time, and perhaps now he feels the forward is ready to make an impact in England.
