Frank Lampard has urged Chelsea Football Club to secure Joe Cole to a new contract.

The England international is a hugely popular player at Stamford Bridge, and when he is fit, he is a key member of coach Carlo Ancelotti’s plans for the Blues quest for silverware.

Cole, though, is out of contract at the end of the season, and with the likes of the two Manchester clubs and Tottenham Hotspur sniffing around, Lampard has urged a new deal to be sealed.

"Joe's a fantastic player and I really hope we keep him," he said. "I don't know Joe's personal position with the club but I'm sure that the club want to keep him and the players want him to stay."
