West Ham United Football Club are unlikely to add Nuno Gomes to their squad this month.

Gianfranco Zola is desperate to add more firepower to his options during the winter window, as he looks to drag the Upton Park club clear of the dreaded relegation zone.

Portugal international Gomes, who has struggled to nail down a place in the Benfica side this season, is a top target, but it looks as though the Premier League side will have to look elsewhere.

"The captain is in my plans," said Stadium of Light coach Jorge Jesus of the 33-year-old Gomes. "There could be more decisive and key moments of this long season for us."
