Steve Bruce is not interested in taking Liverpool Football Club’s Ryan Babel in exchange for Kenwyne Jones.

Rafael Benitez has been heavily linked with Black Cats forward Jones since the opening of the window, as he looks to make something from a disastrous season to date for the Anfield club.

It has been mooted that the Spaniard would offer Dutch international Babel in a straight swap for the Trinidad & Tobago star, but this doesn’t sit well at the Stadium of Light.

"The one thing I am trying to do is build the squad and build the squad to improve," said Bruce. "The last thing I want to be doing is trade or anything like that."
