West Ham United Football Club are said to be interested in Benjani.

The Zimbabwean international is currently contracted to Manchester City, and after a slow start to the season under Mark Hughes, he is finally finding action since the arrival of Roberto Mancini.

It remains to be seen if the former Portsmouth man still has a future at Eastlands, and reports in the Mail claim the Hammers hope to take him to London on loan.

However, their chances could have hit a brick wall following news that Roque Santa Cruz, City’s Paraguayan international, is likely to be sidelined for a month with injury.

And with Emmanuel Adebayor still recovering from events from the African Cup of Nations, Mancini is likely to call upon Benjani during the course of the remainder of the campaign.

This could all change if the mega-rich Premier League side sign another striker this month, but even if they do, the 31-year-old has revealed a desire to remain in Manchester.
