Newcastle United Football Club are interested in signing James Beattie.

The 31-year-old only moved to Stoke City twelve months ago, and he played a key role in keeping the Britannia Stadium club in the Premier League.

This season has been a different tale for Beattie, who has struggled for form and was also involved in a much-publicised bust-up with boss Tony Pulis.

Reports in the Daily Mail suggest the Magpies could be interested in the striker, as they look to earn an automatic return to the top-flight following last May’s relegation heartbreak.
