Manchester City tipped to try for Gerrard
11:00 AM 21 January, 2010
Manchester City Football Club are being tipped to try for Steven Gerrard in the summer.

The Daily Mail claim the England international will quit his boyhood heroes Liverpool at the end of the season, as he looks to add more trophies to his honours list.

Rafael Benitez’s side have failed to launch a bid for the Premier League title this season, and this is the one major piece of silverware Gerrard desperately needs.

The report suggests Blues manager Robert Mancini is confident he can lure the 29-year-old to Eastlands, and will make an audacious bid for him in the summer.

However, Gerrard has assured the Liverpool fans that he has no intention to quit Merseyside, and indeed has even said such speculation is laughed off at Anfield.

Even if the midfielder was to quit his beloved Reds, it is hugely doubtful he would remain in England, and would more than likely look to end his career in Spain or Italy.

I have heard that both Torres and Gerrard have held taks with City and both are excited and ambitious enough to realise that the City project is a far better chance for them to gain silverware than at Liverpool, a club in similar circumstances to United, both being in decline, Watch this space!

Hahaha, yea i heard that Maradona and Zidane were coming out of retierment just to play for city aswell. LMAO. Seems to me to be more like wishful thinking if you ask me. Both Gerrard AND Torres would rather see LFC lift the title than City. With that in mind, Who do you think they are more likely to want to play for???? Don't fall into the trap of thinking that money can buy everything. It cant buy you respect.

Hahaha. This must be someones idea of a joke. What makes anyone think Gerrard would swap Merseyside for Manchester. Whoever published this story is living in a fantasy. And if Mancini seriously thinks he could tempt him, then he's not just from another country, he's from a whole different world. IF, let me say that again.. IF Gerrard were to leave LFC. I really couldn't see him staying in England. And certainly not to strengthen one of our rivals. How stupid can you get. Gerrard probably wants LFC to win the league more than most of the fans do.
