Newcastle United hopeful over Williamson
Newcastle United Football Club are hopeful of tying up a deal for Mike Williamson.
The defender has undergone a medical at St James Park and agreed personal terms with the club, who have settled on a £1million fee for the transfer of the player.
However, Portsmouth still owe some cash to Watford from the signing of Williamson for £3million in the summer, and this is holding up the deal.
"I'm still very much hopeful of a deal going through," United boss Chris Hughton told The Journal. "I know where we were in the morning and it's just a case of waiting and seeing at the moment."
