Sam Allardyce wants Alan Smith at Blackburn Rovers Football Club.

The Ewood Park manager is a big fan of the 29-year-old, who he once paid around £6million for to take him from Manchester United whilst in charge of Newcastle United.

Smith is still contracted to the Championship side, but reports in the Sunday Mirror claim Allardyce is lining up a bid to take him back to the North West.

It is believed the Rovers boss will offer the Magpies the chance to take Keith Andrews to St James Park in exchange for the midfielder, who has also starred for Leeds United.
