Arsenal unlikely to match Babel fee
Arsenal Football Club are unlikely to agree an £11million price for Ryan Babel.
The Dutch international has struggled for form since joining Liverpool from Ajax in the summer of 2007, and Rafael Benitez is prepared to let him leave this month.
A move to Birmingham City has been mooted over the past couple of weeks, but The People claim the Reds have offered the 23-year-old to the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger was a fan of Babel whilst he was still playing for Ajax, but it is hugely unlikely the French coach will agree to pay the Anfield club’s asking price of £11million.
Alex McLeish, meanwhile, remains keen on striking a deal for the player, and the Blues manager is said to be hopeful of reaching a compromise fee of £9million.
