Sir Alex Ferguson is sure Wayne Rooney will stay at Manchester United Football Club.

Real Madrid have been linked with a mega-money offer for the England international, who has responded by declaring he is more than happy with life at Old Trafford.

And Ferguson has shrugged off the Spanish club’s interest in Rooney, who fired United to the Carling Cup final with an injury-time winner against neighbours City on Wednesday.

“Wayne made his declaration, but we knew that. He doesn't want to leave here," he said. "We are sure of where the speculation is coming from. It is not his agent and it is not Wayne.”
