Wayne Rooney travelled to Wembley to watch Everton Football Club last season.

The Manchester United striker left Goodison Park for Old Trafford in the summer of 2003, but he has made no secret of the fact he remains a Toffees fan at heart.

And Rooney has told Everton TV that he even travelled to Wembley to watch his side in last season’s FA Cup, which they eventually lost to Chelsea 2-1.

"I was a bit nervous because I walked in through the Everton fans," he said. "To be honest, though, the Everton fans were brilliant that day.

"When Louis Saha scored it was a great feeling! I still think there are trophies there for Everton to win, but unfortunately it didn't happen that year."
