Sol Campbell has been backed to halt Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney on Sunday.

The Reds striker is in the form of his life at the moment, but Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes the 35-year-old Campbell can get the better of him at the Emirates Stadium.

"Sol has experience and he likes the big games,” said the Gunners chief. "He can turn up if needed and experience helps in these kind of games. Sol can cope with Wayne Rooney.

"I believe Sol has worked very hard and credit to him, every day he was motivated to push himself and he is quite fit, he looks fit."
