Phillips assured of Birmingham City action
02:30 PM 03 February, 2010
Birmingham City Football Club manager Alex McLeish is ready to use Kevin Phillips more during the second half of the season, after failing to sign a new striker in January.

The 36-year-old hitman has only started once in the Premier League this season, with a further seven outings coming from the substitutes bench.

McLeish was looking to sign another striker in January but couldn’t land any of his targets, and now the Scot is ready to place more trust in Phillips.

"Kevin has a great chance of being more involved,” he told bcfc.com. but to bring in someone on a lucrative contract that doesn't possess the quality he has would have been a bad decision all round.”
