Johnson backs Middlesbrough promotion bid
Adam Johnson hopes to be lining up against Middlesbrough Football Club next season.
The 22-year-old winger left the Riverside Stadium after almost ten years association with the club, to join Manchester City in a £7million deadline-day deal.
Whilst Johnson is relishing the prospect of helping the mega-rich Premier League club challenge for honours, he hopes Boro join them in the top-flight next season.
"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I couldn't turn down,” he said. "I'm ambitious, and Gordon Strachan understood that. He was fantastic from day one, and I'm thankful for that.
"I've been with them since I was 12 so I'll be forever grateful, and I hope they get promoted this season. It's been a tough day leaving there, but it's nice to get signed and I can't wait to get started."
