Manchester City keen to assure Petrov
Roberto Mancini wants to assure Martin Petrov of his Manchester City Football Club future.
Since the Italian coach replaced Mark Hughes as manager at Eastlands, the Bulgarian international is back in the fray as a key member of the Blues side.
But the arrival of Adam Johnson on deadline day, together with the form of Craig Bellamy on the left, may have worried Petrov over his long-term future at the club.
The Guardian, though, claim Mancini is eager to assure the 31-year-old he remains part of his plans, and hopes the board will offer him a new deal to extend his stay in Manchester.
Petrov, formerly of Atletico Madrid, has been with city since the summer of 2007, but he is out of contract in the summer and has in the past been linked with Tottenham Hotspur.
