Manchester United aim to win £10million midfielder race
01:30 PM 04 February, 2010
Manchester United Football Club hope to sign Sergio Canales in the summer.

The 18-year-old is rated as one of the brightest prospects in Spanish football, and was widely expected to sign for Real Madrid during the winter window.

However, the deal failed to materialise and Canales remains at Racing Santander, where he is now tipped to sign a new deal to allow them to cash in on his signature at the end of the season.

It is being reported in the Daily Mail that Sir Alex Ferguson has set his sights on beating off competition from Real to land the midfielder, who is rated at £10million.

The Old Trafford boss could make way in his squad for Canales by offloading Brazilian Anderson, who has failed to impress this season for the Premier League champions.
