Jorge Valdano is less than impressed with Manchester City Football Club.

The Blues had been linked with Fernando Gago for much of the winter window, but they turned their attention to Parma’s McDonald Mariga with the deadline approaching.

Only when their move for the Kenyan collapsed did they return to Gago, but their approach in trying to sign the 23-year-old has infuriated Real Madrid’s sporting director.

"They had nothing prepared, not even one document signed," Valdano told El Pais. "They had not reached a deal with the player and they would have had to have done everything in 40 minutes."
