Wenger: Walcott can be Arsenal great
Arsene Wenger believes Theo Walcott can become a great for Arsenal Football Club.
The youngster was signed by the Gunners as a teenager in the summer of 2006, when they took him from Southampton in a £12million deal.
Walcott has been wrapped in cotton wool by Wenger and has also suffered from injuries, which has prevented him from making a real impact in the Premier League.
This has led to suggestions the 20-year-old is not the superstar many felt he would become, but his club manager has told the News of the World that the forward will deliver.
"What has stopped Theo Walcott is injuries - and nothing else,” said Wenger. "I can understand why people are starting to question him because there is always an instant judgement.
"But I wouldn't question Theo Walcott because I am convinced he will be a great player. He is strong enough. He will be a great player. There is a strength inside this boy that waits to come out."
