Championship clubs resist pressing the panic button
06:00 PM 22 October, 2008
As of Wednesday evening, all 24 clubs have the same manager they had on the opening day of the season.

Managers have already come and gone in the Premier League but despite the huge and increasing pressure on Championship clubs to join the big-boys, it's nearly November and no changes have been made.

Tuesday night's local derby win over Sheffield Wednesday would have been a huge boost to Barnsley boss Simon Davey, while Colin Calderwood's Nottingham Forest also gained a battling point against Ipswich although they remain bottom of the table.

"We have certainly played better but hopefully the point we have picked up will set us off in the right direction," said the City Ground boss afterwards.

Iain Dowie's QPR future has been the subject of speculation almost since the day he took over at Loftus Road but he remains in charge despite talk of Terry Venables, Kenny Jackett and a host of others coming in.

Next to come under pressure could well be Alan Pardew at Charlton amid a run of poor results and takeover talk at The Valley.

"In terms of consistency and levels of performance, I am beginning to wonder if it is ever going to come from some members of this side," was his gloomy verdict after the defeat by Bristol City on Tuesday night.
