Niall Quinn has urged the Sunderland Football Club fans to get behind their team.
The Black Cats have not registered a win in their last eleven games, and the fans booed the players off the pitch following the 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
This run of result has left the club just four points above the relegation zone, and chairman Quinn has told fans now is the time to show their support for the team.
"People can give it out and that's fine," he said. "If any Sunderland fan thinks they are doing themselves or the club a favour by putting more pressure on the situation that's for them to decide.
"But I know the best thing is when everybody gets behind the team because that helps the team get their confidence back and turn the corner. Let's do that together and get ourselves up the league.
"Once we get a win under our belts I'm sure we will see people playing at their best again and the players will play with a swagger. At the moment that swagger is not apparent."
