Tottenham Hotspur must become ruthless
06:58 PM 09 February, 2010
Ledley King believes Tottenham Hotspur Football Club must become more ruthless.

The Londoners were in pole position in the race for fourth place in the Premier League at the start of the weekend, but they have been leapfrogged by Liverpool.

Spurs could have reclaimed the last UEFA Champions League spot with a win over Aston Villa, but they were held to a goalless draw at White Hart Lane.

"There have been times at home when we haven't put teams away. Teams make it difficult for us,” said King. “They put a lot of bodies behind the ball, it's up to us to break them down.

"Teams have come here and kept us out. We expect that at home and it's going to be like that until the end of the season. If we can score the first goal, the game opens up and we can pick teams off."

Spurs have a balanced squad, better than most top 4 wishers but lack that belief and mentality which teams like Man Utd have despite at some point having to defend with the likes of Carrick and Fletcher.
