Benjani plans to punish Portsmouth pals
Benjani won’t go easy on Portsmouth Football Club if he takes to the field on Tuesday night.
The 31-year-old has fond memories of the Fratton Park club from a two-year stint on the South Coast, during which he scored 19 goals in 70 league outings.
Now on loan at Sunderland from Manchester City, Benjani returns to Pompey on Tuesday, and despite the plight of his former club, he aims to pile on the misery if he gets chance.
"I did well for Portsmouth and when I was there was a good time for me. I hope I can go back and play well for Sunderland now," he told the Sunderland Echo.
"Of course, I want my former team to be successful so I hope they come out of their problems. I wish them all the best but I am going back with Sunderland so if I play I will be trying to win.”
