Asmir Begovic wants the number one jersey at Stoke City football Club.

The winter signing from Portsmouth is expected to put huge pressure on Thomas Sorensen, who has enjoyed an impressive season at the Britannia Stadium to date.

Whilst Begovic knows he can learn from his experience goalkeeper colleague, he has told The Sentinel that he is out to take his place in Tony Pulis’s side.

"I am playing in the reserves so will see what happens and try to put pressure on him and wait for my chance to come," he said. "He is very good, very experienced and very calm. He has all the tools.

"We are in competition, but I can also learn from him. He is older than me, has played a lot more games and has more experience. I want to learn from him and try to get in the first team as well."
