Stephen Ireland has no intention of quitting Manchester City Football Club.

Last season the midfielder was perhaps the best player at Eastlands, but he has struggled to repeat this form this time round as competition for places increases.

It has been suggested that archrivals Manchester United are plotting an offer for Ireland in the summer, but the 23-year-old has no intention of betraying the Blues fans.

"I have really worked hard to build up my relationship with the fans,” he said. “Even though I came over from Ireland, the fans regard me as one of them. I am very grateful for that."
