Christian Benitez is still fighting for his future at Birmingham City Football Club.

The Ecuadorian international is on loan at St Andrews from Santos Laguna, who have agreed to sell him in a permanent deal worth £9million in the summer.

Benitez has become a favourite amongst Blues fans this season, but Alex McLeish admits he is undecided whether to offer the 23-year-old a long-term contract.

“I like him, and while he’s not been prolific in terms of scoring his ¬assists have been tremendous,” said the Scot. “At the moment he is still a loan, and we have not got to make a decision until May.”
