Sunderland Football Club’s Jordan Henderson faces six weeks on the sidelines.

The midfielder damaged his ankle ligaments against Wigan Athletic earlier this month, and Steve Bruce has confirmed he will be out of action for over a month.

"Obviously we're glad there's no serious damage, but to be without a player like Jordan for six weeks is a blow," said the Stadium of Light manager.

"We can now get on with the rehabilitation process. Jordan is keeping his spirits up and he is prepared to work hard while he's out."
