David Beckham believes Manchester United Football Club’s Wayne Rooney is a big hit in Italy.

The England international is in the form of his life this season, with his brace at Beckham’s AC Milan taking his season’s tally to a personal best of 25.

Rooney has never once indicated he would consider leaving Old Trafford, but a former Old Trafford ace has warned the Reds that the striker’s popularity in Serie A is growing rapidly.

“Wayne is looked upon as a great player in Italy,” Beckham is quoted as saying. “All the Italian people care about is whether he’s doing the right thing and scoring.

“They see him scoring and working hard. The Italian people and Milan fans love people who work hard. Without a doubt he is one of the best goalscorers in the world.”
