David Moyes believes Wayne Rooney can become the best player in the world.

The Everton manager sold Rooney to Manchester United in the summer of 2004 for around £28million, and the England ace has gone from strength-to-strength at Old Trafford.

“I think Wayne is a top player and I think he is going to be a great player,” said Moyes.

"He has added goals to his game, maturity and understanding. I think time will be the test of whether he becomes the best in the world but he is certainly getting very close to it."
