Van der Sar to extend Manchester United stay
03:00 PM 21 February, 2010
Edwin van der Sar has decided to extend his stay at Manchester United Football Club.

This season was expected to see England’s Ben Foster claim the Old Trafford number one shirt, but again, van der Sar has proved to be the best man for the goalkeeping job.

The Dutch international is out of contract in the summer, but the 39-year-old has been offered a new twelve-month deal, and after much consideration, he has decided to put pen to paper.

“I have decided to sign another contract,” he is quoted in the News of the World. "The club want me to stay and I'm happy here. My fitness is good and I feel I can carry on playing for United."
