Ferguson: Manchester City can't match United spirit
07:45 PM 21 February, 2010
Sir Alex Ferguson believes Manchester City Football Club can buy any player in the world...but they still wouldn’t have the spirit of his United side.

The Blues are the richest club in the world following the takeover from the Abu Dhabi Group in the summer of 2008, and have spent heavily on their squad to display this wealth.

Roberto Mancini is expected to add more big names to his squad in the summer, but Ferguson doesn’t believe they will ever match the spirit of his Old Trafford club.

“Manchester City is a club with so much wealth they could buy every player in the world, but can they buy a team, can they buy a Manchester United spirit?” he said in the Observer. "I don't expect City to be bigger than us, I really don't, even with all that money.”
