Stephen Carr has backed Aiden McGeady to join him at Birmingham City Football Club.

It is no secret that Alex McLeish wants the 23-year-old Celtic winger in his St Andrews squad next season, with a bid expected to be made in the summer.

And Carr, who played alongside McGeady for the Republic of Ireland, believes the Parkhead star would be a huge hit in the Premier League for the Blues.

"Aiden has the ability to go right to the top. I've played with him for the Republic of Ireland so I know what I'm talking about,” the fullback said in the Sunday Mail.

“It will be interesting to see if Celtic sell. They'd get top dollar for Aiden - that's for sure. I'd be delighted if he chose to come here. He is good enough to be a top player in the Premier League.”
