Rafael Benitez admits Liverpool Football Club have endured a poor season.

The Reds are well out of the race for the Premier League title after suffering eight defeats, whilst they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in the group stage.

Elimination from the FA Cup and League Cup added to their woes, meaning all they have to play for is a top-four finish in the league and the UEFA Europa League.

"We know it has not been a good season, but all teams go through periods like this," said Benitez. "You just have to carry on, keep working hard and move forward.

“This is a different and difficult situation but we have to manage. The attitude of the players has been fantastic. It was massive to see the way they reacted to going out of the Champions League."
