Michael Carrick hopes to make history with Manchester United Football Club.

The Reds have never retained a cup competition in their history, but they get the chance on Sunday when they take on Aston Villa in the League Cup final.

United lifted the trophy after beating Tottenham Hotspur in a penalty shoot-out last season, and Carrick is determined to ensure it remains in the Old Trafford trophy cabinet.

"It would be nice to do and we have got ourselves into a good position," he said. "But that is just a by-product of the main aim, which is winning the game and picking up that medal."
