Alex McLeish won’t consider signing Mauro Boselli for Birmingham City Football Club, at least not until he has had a proper chance to check his ability.

The Blues have been heavily linked with the 24-year-old Estudiantes striker, who is rated in the region of £8million by his current employers.

Capped twice by Argentina, Boselli has a growing reputation in his homeland, but this means little to McLeish as he is unaware of how good the player may or may not be.

“I have not seen the player and, as I’ve said before, I won’t take players I’ve not seen,” he told the Birmingham Mail. “I’ve not even seen DVDs yet. I’ve seen footage of him scoring goals.

“But I have to see full DVDs before I even think about getting on a plane to Argentina. So that’s the bottom line. I have got to go for players I know, rather than go for a complete stranger.”
