Blackburn Rovers boss rues lack of firepower
Sam Allardyce has rued the lack of firepower at Blackburn Rovers Football Club.
Rovers drew level at Liverpool on Sunday but ended up conceding to Fernando Torres, giving Rafael Benitez’s top-four chasing side a 2-1 home win.
Allardyce believes his side matched the Reds during the game, but the difference was that last season’s runners-up simply had more firepower.
“If we had a goalscorer we would have won, it is that simple," he said. "Chances came and went and we didn't convert them and unusually we had more chances than Liverpool today.
"But because we failed to convert them. Certainly we had enough of the lion's share of the play o get that equaliser but in front of goal we are not good enough at the moment.”
