Chelsea Football Club have assured Ashley Cole that he is still wanted.

It had been suggested that allegations over the England international’s private life would see him fined for breach of club discipline, something the player would have been furious about.

This led to speculation that Barcelona and Real Madrid were plotting to take him to Spain when the window opens in the summer, with a figure of £25million being mooted.

However, according to the Sunday Mirror, Blues owner Roman Abramovich has been in personal contact with Cole, and assured him that he will not be fined.

Additionally, the Russian has also told the currently-injured player that he is still very much wanted at the club, and will not be sold during the summer months.
