Lucas finally belongs at Liverpool
03:30 PM 02 March, 2010
Lucas Leiva believes he finally belongs at Liverpool Football Club.

The Brazilian international has had his critics from the Kop since his arrival in the summer of 2007, but earlier this year he made his 100th appearance for the club.

Lucas now feels he has made an impact in England and belongs at Anfield, and he has told Reds fans that he will get even better as he continues to progress.

“It's not easy to play 100 games for Liverpool,” the 23-year-old told the official club site. “I have more targets now and hopefully I can keep doing well for the team and play as many games as I can.

"I'm feeling really good and I think I'm getting better in each game. I need to keep working hard and try to improve and give something for our fans."

Thank Christ most Liverpool fans agree with me. I fail to see one aspect of football that he truly excels in. I hear him referred to as a defensive midfielder which to me is only the case because he fails so badly going forward, and if he is a defensive midfielder then why can't he tackle. For the most part all I see him do is take the ball in the middle and pass the ball for yards or so to whichever player is beside him. I mean I'm sorry but why he is on the squad is completely lost on me. Not good enough and 23 isn't all that young for a footballer, young yes but words like potential and prospect can't be used as freely. he just frustrates me seeing him played over Aquilani who while not amazing at least mixes it up a little and needs experienced.

I believe Steven Gerrard is telling himself this season :"Why am i playing with the likes of Lucas,Ngog,Insua while Xabi has left to be with the likes of Ramos,kaka,Ronaldo,Higuain,Raul,etc..."..May be Torres is saying the same too.. :)

Its true tat he is improving but nobody will notice tat cause he didn't create anything n no shots taken but he is the kind of player who will only make it big with mid-table teams like elmasry said. If he wanna make it big with top teams dan its difficult coz ther are better players dan him in top clubs. Mayb i suggest rafa not to play him alongside with Mascherano like paul said. Rafa shud play Aquilani alongside wit Lucas to make it balance n Lucas to outshine.

Lucas has done better this year, but the style of player he is, and his general skill level means he is a squad player with a strength to break up play. Unfortunately for him, we already have one of the best in the game at that in Masch. Lucas is too slow, cannot create openings, and is going to have a very low scoring record at the end of his career. We should not be playing him and Masch at the same time unless we're closing the game in the last few minutes of a game against a physical or good side. We will continue to suffer playing two defensive midfielders, and four defenders. It leaves only four players to create and score, which is hardly going to make you a good side.

what are you two on about? He's been on of our consistantly good players this year, played a part in nearly every single game and kept himself fit. Yeah, he's not a xabi or didi but you have to remember he's still only 23. He play's a simple passing game and has clearly improved on his strength and tackling. we've got the likes of gerrard, maxi and yossi to be creative and unpredictable, if we had 11 players doing that it wouldnt work, so you need this type of player. How his performances against united, villa, everton, stoke to name a few, and he's also in the Brazil squad. If that hasnt convinced you, then i don't know what will.

Still not a Liverpool player,Lucas.More of a Wolves or a Pompey player ..Still can`t be compared to Didi Hamann or Xabi Alonso for example..Lucas:no goals,no physical strength, not good in the air, frequent missed passes..not good enough..I don`t know where did you get this confidence from !
