Ray Wilkins is confident Chelsea Football Club will keep Joe Cole.

The England international is out of contract in the summer, and is wanted by the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur according to reports.

It is believed Cole and the Blues are still some way apart from reaching an agreement over a new deal, but Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant is confident something will be sorted.

"We are desperate to keep Joe," Wilkins told Sky Sports. "I know the club are and we as a management group are desperate to keep him.

"He is a very valuable asset to us, but it is a contractual situation that I am sure he and the club will sort out at some stage. We would love to keep Joe and I am sure they will sort that out."
