Zinedine Zidane has named Paul Scholes as the best midfielder of his generation.

The France international played alongside and against a host of top midfielders during his time, including the likes of Rivaldo, Claude Makelele, Roy Keane and Edgar Davids.

However, when it comes to naming the player he feels comes out on top over all the others, he points to Manchester United star Scholes, who scored his 100th Premier League goal on Saturday.

"Paul Scholes is the complete midfielder. He is undoubtedly the best midfielder of his generation,” said Zidane, a World Cup winner with Les Bleus in 1998.
