Darren Fletcher has tasked Wayne Rooney to reach the 40 goal mark this season, as Manchester United Football Club look to record another memorable campaign.

Rooney took his tally for the season to 30 with another brace against Milan in the UEFA Champions League, taking the Reds to the quarter-finals in the process.

And with another nine games remaining in the Premier League, Fletcher is challenging the England international to hit another ten goals during the remainder of the run-in.

“If he keeps going the way he is then he definitely will," he told Sky Sports. "I don't think Wayne's the type of player to pass up on this opportunity now, he's going to push on.

"He's a determined player and we hope he pushes on because we're still fighting for the Premier League and the Champions League. I'm sure the manager will keep challenging him as well."
