Roy Keane remains hopeful Connor Wickham will sign a new deal with Ipswich Town.

The 16-year-old, who scored a dramatic winner against Scunthorpe United on Saturday, has been linked with Arsenal, but Keane hopes the youngster will decide to pen a new deal at Portman Road.

"He hasn't given me a promise but his dad and agent have been speaking to the chairman,” he said. "All I can do is keep him involved and hopefully the contract will take care of itself.

"We believe this a good club to learn your trade at but I live in the real world and there's always dangers out there. That's why I've never been one for getting carried away with Connor."
