Dowie relishing Hull City fight
07:45 PM 17 March, 2010
Iain Dowie is relishing the fight to keep Hull City Football Club in the Premier League.

The 45-year-old has been appointed as Phil Brown’s successor at the KC Stadium, and he arrives with the club three points adrift of safety with just nine games remaining.

The first of these is a trip to the Premier League’s bottom club Portsmouth this weekend, and Dowie is approaching the game with much enthusiasm as he looks to keep the Tigers in the top-flight.

"I'm really looking forward to the challenge. It's a difficult one but one that I can embrace and my favourite time is when I'm on the training ground - that's what I love to do,” he told Sky Sports.

“There's nothing like being a coach. I'm coming to a working class town that has a ferocious fanbase that needs a team representative of that ferocity and tenacious spirit.

"The club are in a poor run of form away from home. But what we must do is look forward. We've got nine great games, and we want to get to a position where destiny is in our own hands."
