John Mensah hopes to stay at Sunderland Football Club.

The Ghanaian international skipper is currently on loan at the Stadium of Light from Lyon, and he has impressed during his twelve appearances in the Premier League.

As the season enters its business phase, Mensah has revealed he hopes to secure a permanent move to Wearside, rather than return to France.

“I would like to stay here,” he said. “I am happy and glad. My colleagues make me happy. I have worked very hard and am now fit and ready. I am enjoying it at Sunderland.”
