Manchester City would have to increase £40million Torres bid
11:00 AM 18 March, 2010
Manchester City Football Club are reportedly preparing a £40million bid for Fernando Torres, yet surely they will have to pay more for the Spanish international?

If Liverpool fail to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, this is likely to further increase the financial worries at the Merseyside club.

The Reds are bracing themselves for bids for Steven Gerrard, and more likely, Torres, who the Manchester Evening News claim is a £40million target for City.

The former Atletico Madrid ace revealed recently that he feels the Anfield club need to spend heavily in the summer, but this cash won’t be there without UEFA Champions League football.

Whilst it still remains doubtful they would consider selling Torres, if their hand is forced, then they would want more than £40million for the striker many call the best in the business.
