Newcastle United Football Club are determined to keep hold of Andy Carroll.

The 21-year-oold striker has been in fine form for the Championship leaders this season, sparking interest from a number of Premier League sides.

Stoke City were said to be willing to pay as much as £5million for his signature in the New Year, whilst Martin O’Neill, the Aston Villa boss, is also interested.

The News of the World, though, believe Chris Hughton is eager to keep Carroll, born in Gateshead, at St James Park, and has urged his board to offer him a fresh five-year deal.
