Sir Alex Ferguson believes the title race will go down to the wire this season.

Having seen his Manchester United side bounce back from a goal down to beat Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford, the champions have assumed pole position in the Premier League.

However, Arsenal and Chelsea are still very much in contention, and Ferguson has told Sky Sports that he fully expects the race to go all the way this season.

"It could very well go to the wire,” he said. “I don't have any doubts about that. You look at the run in and there are important games coming up, so I don't see how it can't go down to the wire."
